Washington National Cathedral

83 years in the making, ALL stone- no iron reinforcement, no concrete, and the end product is PHENOMENAL!
Right as I was walking up the church bells were playing so I got some video footage- just listen...the visual is pretty much just trees being in the way, sorry :)  [video may be on here twice...having technical difficulties...if so, both are the same]
Great long hallway of stained glass and peaked arches, with all of the state flags lining the way.
 David and Goliath tapestry...eww.
My Old Testament hero!  Deborah! (And Barak)
Commemorates the Apollo spaceships- there is even a moon rock built into the stained glass in the middle of the big red moon!
 George.
This was in a stairwell at about the 5th floor, not only are the daffodils lovely, but there is a cool etching of the building itself in the blue pane at the top left.
EAT YOUR HEART OUT, WESTMINSTER ABBEY!!
Can you see the gargoyles?  They are EVERYWHERE and they are all different and AWESOME!
EVEN A DARTH VADER GARGOYLE!!

Cool door in the crypt
 Mosaic in the crypt

From the gardens behind the cathedral:

EXQUISITE!  This national treasure is not nearly well-known enough!  Don't miss it!

  1. Beautiful! Funny how we have a national cathedral, but people don't like religion entering their political views:) We must see this!
