Super Saturday

VERY busy week, with Saturday being no exception.  In the morning I ran in my first ever 5k, in fact, I think it has the first time I have ever been in any sort of foot race since the 50 yard dash in elementary school.  And, what do ya know, I wind up getting the second place ribbon!  (waking up sober definitely has its perks, haha)  At any rate I was SO PROUD!  Here's some photos:

Coming in for my big finish.

And the much-coveted 2nd place ribbon.

From there, it was a mess of curlers and nail polish as I got ready for the MLSA (minority student law student association- I'm in the Women's Law Caucus, so I am technically actually a part of it) Banquet, which was really great.  It was a nice venue, amazing international food, and a par-tay all night long! (almost)
And I even had a cute date :)
And check out these curls- whoa! I didnt think my hair could even do that!

(nearly) Cherry Blossoms!

Hello, there.

Here are a couple of photos I took of the tree right outside my window because it is SO beautiful!  Right in time for the Tidal Basin Cherry Blossom Festival in DC, my tree bloomed as well.

Spring is definitely here- and I've never been in a place with a more lovely springtime welcome.  Everything is so green and I am loving it!

Looking the Part

This is a candid photo of me conquering the concrete jungle with my impressive lawyer looks and skills:

Haha- do you like the glasses?   A friend actually took this out her window (slightly creepy) when I was on my way to sign my new lease.  Yes I wore the fake glasses and the fake name badge to sign my lease...actually my landlady suddenly started throwing in stuff and I'm guessing that it MUST have been the glasses :)

Still confused?  I was a medical witness in a mock trial right after this photo was taken.  In fact, I did so well the judge asked me afterwords if I was actually a doctor.  Again, totally the glasses.  I almost wore them to my oral argument this week, since they appear to be quite effective.

Sorry, DC + good news

I would say "my bad," but if I did, my mom would probably strangle me the next time she saw me.  However, I will say sorry for being a slacker.  I'm alive and BUSY!  ...and about to get much busier. :(

But the good news is that I'm moving next month!  Yay!  So Pier 1 has become my newest best friend and I've already been there twice this week...its bad...but its really exciting!  So I'm moving into a bit bigger place, it has a deck, I'll be able to grill, still walking distance to school, right across the street from the gym (yes!), and right next door to my closest law school homegirl, Vika, so we can give each other social support :)  And I will finally graduate from a twin bed!  I guess that finally makes me a grown up...finally.

Also good is that my briefs are all done for the year!  That is SUCH a relief.  No grade back yet, but I pretty much don't care anymore!  It's just done and that's all that matters!

More good news is that I received funding for working with a local legal services office this summer- SO EXCITING!  I will be able to pay rent!  Yay!  haha

So way back on my Spring Break, which just more like an extra study break...not much relaxing about it...Dan and I managed to sneak away for a day down to DC and it was really nice.  I was sad that we were a bit premature for the cherry blossoms, but we conquered the Smithsonian(s) and it was a lot of fun.  We even saw a mouse running around downstairs in the cafe of the Museum of American History- people were screaming and everything- quite the excitement, haha.

Evidence to support the former assertions:
